Bed Sizes.

Questions that people always ask are what size is a single bed, or double bed, or what on earth is a small double mattress. With so many companies including ourselves selling beds & mattresses in all sizes. It was always going to be confusing for the client to know what we are all on about.

Anyway, we are going to explain the different sizes and what you can expect to get in all the sizes. Here goes.

Small Single Beds - 2ft 6" beds.

These beds & mattresses are 2ft 6" (75cm) wide and 6ft 3" (190cm) long.

Single Beds - 3ft beds.

These beds & mattresses are 3ft (90cm) wide and 6ft 3" (190cm) long.

Small Double Beds - 4ft beds.

These beds & mattresses are 4ft (120cm) wide and 6ft 3" (190cm) long.

Double Beds - 4ft 6" Beds.

These beds & mattresses are 4ft 6" (135cm) wide and 6ft 3" (190cm) long.

King Size Beds - 5ft Beds.

These beds & mattresses are 5ft (150cm) wide and 6ft 6" (200cm) long.

Super King Size Beds - 6ft Beds.

These beds & mattresses are 6ft (180cm) wide and 6ft 6" (200cm) long.

We hope you find these measurements useful. Although some companies do make beds & mattresses in other odd sizes. We tend to find that these oddball bed sizes are specific to individual manufacturers and are always clearly marked on websites.

One final and very important note you must always remember is that although bed frames, bedsteads or metal bed and pine beds are sold in all the above sizes. The frames themselves are always going to be larger than the mattress as they will wrap around the mattress. The overall frame size will depend on the style of frame and thickness of the wood or metal used.
